EVA (September)

Blush Acoustics was the last stop of Evas UK Tour.

She was at ease with the audience She said "this is my happy song and It's not even a happy song"

and in return the they were held spellbound.

She has a beautiful voice, great vocal tone.

She is an accomplished pianist. Confident yet delicate, her fingers barely touching the keys.

Her Lyrics bare her naked.

"First we fall & then we Fly" "My heart starts to sing when I see you, I try to sing louder but I can't"

All at Blush (inc.me) hope to see Eva back in the UK soon.

The Almighty Birds of Praise   (Aug)

The Almighty Birds of Praise made their Third appearance at Blush. They are a duo with guitar and blues harp. Tonight they presented a selection of original songs including ‘Murph the dog’ that has a country feel, and makes you wish that you were sitting on the porch swinging away with a cold one. The song ‘Seven Sisters’ Reminds me a little of the Eagles. Taking it easy. They included in the set, a cover of ‘Everybody’s gotta live’ a dedication to Arthur Lee who passed away from leukaemia recently.

I loved the balance of guitars, which were complementary to each other, toe tapping and mellow.

Had to giggle, at ‘Born Slippy’ a cover from Underworld, which includes the lyric ‘Mega, Mega, Mega, going back to

Romford’, - or is that never?

OLIVIA FLENLEY (July)

Olivia Flenley Headlined August as the

Featured artist at Blush Acoustics.

As Soon as she'd stepped out on the stage the audience

was spellbound, by her beautiful, innocent vocals,

which seem to float over the guitar.

It's amazing how easy she makes it Look!!

Olivia has an incredible range, reaching the highest

notes easily, with no effort.

I can hear influences of Jewel in her song writing style

and her voice reminds me a little of Eddie Reader.

Her last song "Tree Cover" captured the audience and

gave them an experience they would never forget.

MISTER DOO  (June)

What’s this? I hear you cry. “It’s too hot today, so I’ve left my leather pants at home!”

Mister Doo embraces the audience, and fills the room with his unreserved bluesy vocal,

that would trick the Mississippi into thinking he lived there once. His guitar sings the blues like a hot knife through butter, leaving all of us wondering ‘how on earth

can he play like that!’

With song writing inspirations from books, films, to the neighbour’s cat, you will not be disappointed. Mister Doo even has a song about ‘A cross-dressing

fireman named Larry’

If you thought you could fall asleep with the gentle blues, you’d be quite mistaken! You can get all the ‘Jelly Roll’ you need from Mister Doo!! Don’t be a fool,

go see for yourself!!!!

Is that a Monkey you got?

JAC SWAIN   (April)

"Now she won't play when crooked cards are dealt,

So they buckeled up and battened down

as they crossed the bible belt.

Got a Lung full of dirt as they did the dustbowl run,

and got burnt in the desert underneath the mojave sun."

Not Lyrics you come by often I hear you cry....

It's refreshing to see a country singer out on the acoustic scene. Jac has her own unique style of Country Music.

Standing tall with her Bright RED Jumper and

beautiful PINK electric guitar.

Strong yet tender vocals, Amazing range.

Great stage presence. She's able to tell stories of Sister spinster and her travels, then suddenly you're back to Jac's true life tales of woe and heartache. Not an easy thing for anyone to achieve but Jac does it with ease.

As soon as she hits the first chord you know your gonna have a toe tapping, thigh slapping, whale of a time!!

With a few tears thrown in.

DAVE CARTER    (February)

"The guitar is very important, and intimate element of the guitar is amazing and I love it, my songs live are very quiet, and I love a dark room with candles."

For Me Dave Carter is without doubt one of the best Male singer songwriters around.

13 steps to Recovery is one of the few albums that I am able to listen to all the way through without skipping tracks......

You can tell that his lyrics come straight from the heart.

He plays the guitar so tenderly and with great skill.

His voice is intimate and honest.

You Must see this guy live. It's an experience you will not forget!!

MIKA SELLENS  (January)

"London-based singer-songwriter, Mika Sellens, has been writing songs since the age of 10. Among many other things Mika has worked with Pepe Deluxe, co-writing and recording the song 'Lying Peacefully', to be heard on their album Beatitude (Catskills 2003) and also as a single (Catskills 2004). "

Mika has that special something that draws you to her.

Her vocals are rich, her Melodies reach right in and her Lyrics are heartfelt.

She is also a very skilful guitarist.

Sam accompanied Mika on Guitar and Cello. He provided Mika with the perfect Balance. Enriching her songs, giving them a full rich sound.

Mika is certainly one to watch out for...

LUCY & CILLA  (December)

Lucy (vocals and Cello) & Cilla (guitar and backing vocals) are in a London based, indie/folk 4 piece band called

"Thank you driver."

Lucy & Cilla have been writing songs together for a year or so. Their catchy melodies, intricate chord changes and Lyrics are a joy to listen to.

They've got great chemistry on and off stage. It felt as though they'd worked together for years.

One thing that really hits you when watching them is, they really do enjoy performing.

It's great to see artists actually having fun. They left me And the rest of the audience feeling uplifted.

I asked them where they got their band name from,

they replied.

"We're called Thank You Driver because we believe manners to be very important, especially when on public transport."

I'll definately be catching them at their next gig. Can't wait to hear the full band.

  Great stuff Girls!!

TY BAXTER  (November)

"Ty was born in Johannesburg, South Africa.

At an early age his parents divorced, this coupled with the turbulent political realities at that time left him with a strong desire to create something beautiful in a world in which beauty seemed hard to come by.

At the age of 10 Ty started his first year at a boarding school. Ty found the place enchanting and mystical but also very lonely. To combat this and his home-sickness he started keeping journals of all his thoughts and

ideas, without really knowing it he had started songwriting."

Ty instantly took command of the audience. He has a tremendous amount of stage presence. The first thing that strikes you is his unmistakable Distinctive style (look). His musical style of melodic pop would not be out of place in the charts. From the heart wrenching lullaby "Whispered words" to "Skin Deep" .Ty has the full package. He has Great vocals, melodies & abundance of stage presence.

He certainly made a lot of new fans at Blush Bar.

ALYS  (October)

Blush Bar was Packed yet she still managed to fill the

room with her own inimitable syle and presence.

Alys originally from Co.Armagh, Northern Ireland

is one of the best strummers I've seen.

Superb wrist action (no seriously) she has great technique,

a real skillfull guitarist.

Playing at various venues myself I've bumped into Alys a

few times. On a couple of occasions she's told me before a gig that she was feeling ill, (hungover) but she has always

managed to pull a brilliant performance out of the bag.

She is a natural Singer. Powerfull, mesmerizing vocals.

Alys Always Leaves the audience, Including me

craving for more... Awesome!!!

MASSIMO MARTELLA  (September)

"Amidst all the people who are out to make a quick

buck off the back of music, and the pay to play venues,

I still remember the reason why I first picked up a guitar…

Love & Passion, and that's the same reason I'm still playing."

One of Massimos songs 'Sinners in the Synagogue'

is going to be used as a soundtrack to a film called

'Angel wing'. I've been told the film is a cross

between Shawshank Redemption and The Green mile.

As Massimo takes to the stage I watch people

staring at Him unaware what they are about to

experience. The delivery of his songs is perfection.

You cannot help but to be moved by His performance. In

no way, shape, or form is it staged. You get the feeling

that you are on a journey with Massimo. I myself would

gladly pay good money to see his performance.

I've heard people say that he can be controversial.

I say "Listen to his Lyrics". One word comes to mind when

thinking of Massimo

 INSPIRATIONAL!

See him live, experience the talent that is,
